MedInterview respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you provide to us. This Privacy Notice explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and your rights in relation to your personal information.
The information we collect: When you register for or use MedInterview, we may collect information including:
- your name and contact details, including telephone number and email address;
- information about your medical-school applications and university choices;
- your personal statement and other application-related information;
- details of previous university interview experiences;
- information about your perceived strengths and weaknesses;
- your concerns, worries or areas in which you would like interview support; and
- any other information that you voluntarily provide to us for the purpose of interview preparation.
Please only provide information that is relevant to your medical-school interview preparation.
How we use your information: We use your personal information to:
- provide and personalise medical-school interview preparation and support;
- understand your individual interview preparation needs;
- respond to requests for interview support;
- communicate with you about your MedInterview account and support;
- manage and improve the MedInterview service; and
- maintain appropriate records relating to the service.
We will not sell your personal information or use it for unrelated marketing purposes.
Confidentiality and sharing of information: We will treat your information as confidential and take reasonable steps to protect it against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or disclosure.
Your information will only be shared where this is necessary to provide the MedInterview service, where you have given permission, where required by law, or where disclosure is otherwise permitted under applicable data-protection legislation.
Sensitive information: To better support you, we ask some information which you choose to provide. We know that such information concerning your personal circumstances, worries or wellbeing, are particularly private or sensitive.
Therefore, we ask you only provide what we ask and to avoid providing information that is not necessary to help us to support you with your interview preparation. Where you do provide the sensitive information we require, we will handle it in accordance with applicable data-protection law (https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2025/18/contents).
Retention of information: We will retain your personal information only for as long as it is reasonably necessary to provide the MedInterview service and to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected.
Information provided specifically for interview preparation, including personal statements, university choices, previous interview experience, strengths, weaknesses and interview concerns, will normally be retained for 12 months after the end of the relevant medical-school application and interview cycle, after which it will be securely deleted.
Account and contact information may be retained for up to two years after your last activity with MedInterview, unless you ask us to delete it earlier.
Certain financial or transaction records may need to be retained for a longer period where required by law or for legitimate accounting, tax or legal purposes.
We will regularly review the information we hold and will delete or anonymise information when it is no longer necessary. You may also request deletion of your personal information, subject to any legal obligations that require us to retain records.
Your rights: Subject to applicable data-protection law, you may have the right to:
- request access to the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- request deletion of your personal information in certain circumstances;
- request restriction of how we process your information in certain circumstances;
- object to certain forms of processing; and
- withdraw consent where processing is based on your consent.
You also have the right to raise a concern with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO; https://ico.org.uk/) if you believe your personal information has not been handled appropriately.
